Our Mk3 Triumph Spitfire is a rare beasty indeed and deserves a sympathetic restoration. She is very solid but with some very poor repairs.
It looks like she’s been blasted down to the metal and then painted in red primer to protect the metal surface. The blasting has revealed repairs to the rear wheel arches which will need attention. In fact they may well need doing again.
There is no glass, no interior and no lights but many of those items were supplied in boxes including a beautiful pair of original blue seats in remarkably good condition. Unfortunately many of the other boxed spares are not in a useable condition.

The body tub itself is very good and the doors fit extremely well. The bonnet though is rusty and dented and may need to be replaced. We will explore that option later.

Engine wise everything looks present and correct although she currently doesn’t run. Most of the ancillaries are present as is most of the wiring loom but it’s not fully connected. The first job will be to get her running so we can check the state of the important mechanical components before turning our attention to the bodywork.

The restoration continues………
